Schubert’s works conceived for domestic music making cover a wide emotional range. The Fantasy in F minor is a late work of great stature, demanding of its players a more than usual sensitivity and pianistic capability. The two sets of Variations, in B flat and B minor, are both compact, but contain much variety of mood and atmosphere. The Rondo in A major and Allegro ‘Lebensstürme’ are also significant works, rewarding both to play and to hear.
